This photo shows the appliqued flowers and the butterflies quilted into the background. Can you see them? Love the handquilting – the texture from use is so wonderful!


I also attended a very enjoyable lecture by Mary Pal. She was a wonderful speaker with such a humorous and positive talk on her path as an art quilter. She specializes in sculpting with cheesecloth – especially portraits like these! Really – go SEE!

I’m sorry to say that I didn’t take her workshop because I hadn’t heard of her work before – lesson learned! Try out something you don’t know just because – just to see – just to learn.

I added a few more pieces to my stash. See that green! Still going with it – following my gut and trusting that something will be created with this green soon. Found the fabric markers at a vendor – tried them out at Quilt Canada last summer and liked them. They don’t bleed as much as other markers I’ve tried. The coloured pencils have watercolour pencils, brights and metallics! Too fun 🙂 The panel in the background I might use with Pat Sloan’s new book and challenge (book has arrived!)

I also picked up another fabric licence plate – I think I have four now? And the pink microphone is an eraser and pencil sharpener (that I can’t figure out how to empty!) I’ve been supply teaching too and there was a book fair selling these cute things. My husband was disappointed I didn’t bring him home a black one!
